Penyelenggaraan Q Film Festival menuai unjuk rasa dari Front Pembela Islam. Mendengar kabar bahwa festival ini akan menayangkan film-film bertema lesbian, gay, bi-seksual dan transeksual (LGBT), FPI langsung menyerbu lokasi pusat kebudayaan Jerman Goethe-Institut, dan  beberapa tempat dilaksanakannya festival tersebut.  
Dalam aksi protes tersebut, FPI menyatakan keberatannya dan penolakan keras atas pemutaran festival film tersebut.

Meski menuai kontroversi, para insan perfilman tanah air justru memberi dukungan penuh atas terselenggaranya Q Film Festival yang sudah didirikan sejak tahun 2002 tersebut.
Dukungan ini mereka tuliskan lewat akun twitter resmi Q Film Festival. Diantara para sineas itu ada beberapa nama seperti Lukman Sardi dan Nia Dinata.

Centre Culturel Francais (CCF) sebagai salah satu pihak yang mensponsori pemutaran film dalam Festival Film Q mengelak jika pihaknya dituding memutar film porno. Menurut salah satu volunteer-nya, Sigit, pihak CCF mengatakan jika film-film yang diputar memang memiliki set dokumenternya.
"Banyak pihak salah menilai. Menurut saya film ini ada dokumenternya ada filmnya juga. Yang saya tahu ini bukan film porno, tapi lebih banyak ilmu pengetahuannya karena bersifat dokumenter," ujar Sigit kepada wartawan di kantor CCF, Salemba, Jakarta Pusat, Selasa (28/09).
Namun meski begitu, ditambahkan oleh Sigit, pihak CCF telah secara resmi membatalkan pemutaran film tersebut. Pembatalan itu telah dikonfirmasi dari pihak Q Film Festival selaku pihak penyelenggara.
"Untuk sementara hari ini memang dibatalkan. Namun untuk selanjutnya kita menunggu konfirmasi selanjutnya," ujar Sigit sambil menjelaskan jika pemutaran film tersebut memang rencanannya akan diputar pada pukul 17.00 WIB dan 19.30 WIB hari ini. (kpl/adt/npy)
